Nightdress, day two

Aside from the part where I worked out for three hours, I have spent the entirety of the last forty eight hours in my nightgown. Yes, in my nightgown. Why? Because I am working from home this summer (only! one! job!) and I can laze around in my enormous white cotton brocade nightdress, with my hair in braids, and offend no one.

Oh wait. Maybe I just offended you. Did I offend you?

Sorry if I did.

Some smart person once (or twice) said that you should get dressed and put mascara on every single day, whether you will be interfacing with other humans or not.

So you tell me: if I work from home, is it scuzzy and slatternly to do my job in my nightgown? With my hair in braids? With not a lick of make-up on?

Does the work get done? Then who the hell cares anyway?

What's the point of mascara if no. one. will. see. you? That just doesn't make good $$ sense...

Not scuzzy. Nor slatternly either.

I have always thought it was weird to dress up and put makeup on just for yourself, like that will make you a better person. I say be lazy and be comfortable, why work at home otherwise?

I say work comfortably. Bathe of course (haha), but wear pajamas as much as you like. When I worked at home, I spent most of my life in pajama pants and a t-shirt. However, when I found myself dealing with depression, it DID help me to dress up more and even apply a little make-up. It had the same effect on me as cleaning my house when I'm depressed -- made me feel a little brighter, lighter.

Why a nightgown? I just imagined you hanging out in a t-shirt and panties.

Absolutely not. You wear whatever your little heart desires.

... a nightgown and braids... how cute.

I almost never wear mascara; that item for me would be lipstick, and I often do wear it even when no one is looking. But that may be more to do with being kinda vain than smart/non-slatternlines v unsmart/slatternliness. I think I'm way cuter just by wearing lipstick, so it's an effortless boost. I had to look that up, slattern. Whatever works for however it is you're rolling atm, is what I say.

You are my hero.

I also love billowing white nightgowns. I bought one in Heathrow that was some period effect from the 1400s, it is awesome.

But as for sitting at home in a nightgown all summer, I would say don't do it. It does have an effect on your mood and outlook to put some clothes on. And what if there's something fabulous outside you suddenly have to run out to see? What if George Clooney is lost and he rings your buzzer?

Sometimes it's nice to have pants on. And lipstick.

I would definitely recommend putting clothes on occasionally. Those months (year) that I spent in my sweats were the most depressing of my life. Getting dressed definitely helps.

I'm not offended.

But I am insanely jealous.

I don't wear makeup even when I go places. As for the nightgown, I've been known to spend the whole day in an old t-shirt and oversized shorts, so I say nothing wrong with that.

Heck no...

If i could work from home, my buttocks would feel cotton fabric maybe, maybe twice a week...

pfft.. whatever. I would never put real clothes on if I didn't have to leave the house and I only wear a black t-shirt and shorts to work.
