COP

Change of plans:

Tomorrow, I fly to SC. And on Friday when I was originally supposed to come back to New York and fly to Africa, I am going to stay in SC and not fly to Africa. I am going to stay at my dad's for a while and then when it feels right for all concerned, I'll come back to NY.

I don't regret missing my trip to Africa or the money I will have lost. I do regret letting my friends down and that once again, the four of us will have planned a trip and not all made it. However, my step mother needs help taking care of my dad and I think I need more than the twelve hour visit I had alloted to say goodbye to him.

So that's the change of plan.

Sounds like the right plan for you. Be well, Nina - I'll be thinking of you and sending you virtual hugs.

You're doing what's important. You can always climb a mountain later.

I agree with the other commenters. Peace to you and to your family.

It sounds to me like you made the right choice.

I'm glad you've decided what to do. If I were in the position of your Kili friends, I would feel pain for you and disappointment in missing you, but not "let down". (But then again I can be kind of picky and sensitive about language and possibly a tad presumptuous about what you meant. Looking into that).

Anyway, raised glasses, love and thoughts and good energy your way continue on. Travel safely.

I'm glad you made a decision. I hope that when you get down there you can get enough time with him.

Prayers coming from here for your dad, and for you.

I take back my comment on an earlier post. Of course this is the right thing to do.

The silver lining is that the timing has made it clear what the right path is. As hard as this is, it would have been worse if he were doing fine, you went to Africa, and you came back to disaster. (like when I went to Ireland and my grandmother died while my plane was landing..)

I don't see how you could do anything else, but what you are doing. Good luck and be well.
I will keep your whole family in my prayers.

This is more of a mountain than any you could climb in any part of the world. Be well.

Kili will still be there when you're ready. You need to be with your dad. I'm glad you followed your heart. xo

You are doing what is exactly right for you. I wish you could Fedex me your students' papers to grade. At least that would be one more mountain you won't have to climb right now. I know this sounds all New Age-y and stuff, but I've found that these horrendous times all make sense at some later date.
